SEATTLE’S OLYMPIC HOTEL: LUXURY REFRESHED

The Olympic Hotel has been a Seattle icon since opening in 1924. Considered the grand dame of downtown and the place to go for a refined experience, the Fairmont Olympic invested $50 million over the last two years on a top-to-bottom refresh that really shines. The guestrooms, spa, and fitness facilities remain comfortable and elegant with a contemporary design. A more significant transformation can be seen in the lobby, bar, and the storied dining room where the Art Deco design is both retro and modern. No longer just for special occasions, the Fairmont Olympic is now a place for guests to return again and again when the mood strikes for something upscale and swanky.

sLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS

It is not uncommon for historic properties to have smaller rooms but not so at the Fairmont Olympic. Guest rooms are comfortably spacious, offer a variety of connecting options, and are available with walk-in showers and family-friendly tub/shower combinations. My favorite was the 1250sf corner suite with a parlor room, dining room, Murphy bed, and ensuite master bedroom.

Wine & Dine

The Lobby Bar is a new and fabulous addition to the Fairmont Olympic. There is comfortable lounge and bar seating for breakfast, light bites through the day and night, and drinks. In the evening, those in the know enjoy the cozy atmosphere of the speakeasy bar, tucked away behind the bookcases. With very limited seating, reservations are essential. The former Georgian Room is in the final stages of a complete revamp and my sneak peek behind the towering velvet curtain revealed a gorgeous, design-forward space. Count me in for those first seatings!

WELLNESS RETREAT

The Fairmont Olympic fitness facility has long been a favorite of both hotel guests and local residents alike who are drawn to the large indoor pool and hot tub with abundant windows allowing in plenty of natural light. During summer months, an outdoor deck includes food/beverage service. There is also a well-equipped gym, full-service spa with 8 treatment rooms, and salons for hair and nail care.
